Rittal Quality Management
Right from a very early stage, the innovative Rittal technologies have been founded on the awareness that all activities of an industrial enterprise directly influence the environment. This is not only expressed in the integration of environmental considerations into Rittal's business principles. Environmental protection has been practical reality throughout the company for many years: From the development of new products, through manufacturing, and on to our contract partners.
Enclosure Environment and occupational health and safety management systems
EMAS, eco-audits, SCC, ISO 14001 or BS 18000 are terms with which only insiders are confronted. It is necessary to set international standards. Approved management systems are, for example, ISO 14001 for environmental protection. An internationally approved management system OHSAS 1800 for occupational health and safety was developed from BS 1800. The question was if it is necessary to develop two further independent systems with separate documents and audits. The ISO 9001 system has already focussed on processes and process audits and due to a lot of points of conformity the decision for an integrated management system was a logical result. Existing handbooks and standard documents have been revised and combined into "one" valid handbook for quality, environmental protection and occupational safety with processes and core processes. Therefore process, work and operating instructions have been standardised and documents, statistics and drafts of international issues have been elaborated. In 2004 some locations of Rittal international as well as Loh Services were certified. All process audits were concluded to a high degree of fulfilment. Since the system is available in electronic form it is possible to dispense with paper at all levels.
Comprehensive commitment
Certification in line with the eco-audit guidelines of the ISO 14000 management system covers all activities at the production sites. From manufacturing and assembly to transport and quality assurance, all activities which could in any way affect the environment are recorded and carefully scrutinised. Rittal can be proud of its achievements with regard to waste prevention, resource conservation and the implementation of environmental technologies: In 1999, for example, a totally effluent-free painting plant was taken into operation.
